HDR FX1 lcd screen
Howzit?
I have a little problem, my sony HDR FX1 records images larger then what are shown on the LCD screen. In other words, I check my framing and everything is perfect but when I tank it into the computer there is more of the image around what I could see while recording. Is there any good way to adjust this? It really isn't helpful in framing. |

Unfortunately almost every camcorder overscans as you describe (the actual image is larger than what you see in the viewfinder). If you do a search on "overscan" you'll see this is an issue on the DVX-100, PD-170, XL2, etc.
Now Sony decided to differentiate the Z1 and the FX1 by adding the feature that you want - they call it ALLSCAN. It's a function which shows the full frame on the LCD/viewfinder and you can assign to one of the programmable buttons on the Z1 -, but not on the FX1. Unfortunately there is nothing you can "adjust" to change this on the FX1. The A1, V1 and Z1 have the ALLSCAN function and none of the other Sony camcorders have it. |

Yeah, this creates problems with 35mm adapters when you are trying to zoom in just past the vignette... have to make sure to give it little bit extra.
