Hi Pascal, and welcome to DVinfo! What camera do you have? The FX1 doesn't have an hours meter.
On the Z1 select the OTHERS menu (icon with 4 squares) and scroll way down to HOURS METER. See the following for info on interpreting the display: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=73340 |

Correction.
FYI - The FX1 does indeed have an hours meter, which is accessed by remote RM95 and the Service Manual for instruction on how to access it.

Ah yes, that's true John, and the RM-95 can read the hours on any of Sony's prosumer level camcorders (VX-2000, TRV-900, etc). Unfortunately, AFAIK Sony has stopped selling these - a few years ago you could purchase from their parts website for about $80. Just saw one get sold in our own classifieds forum recently. You can also use the RM-95 to hack the camera firmware (a risky proposition). But I suspect most users aren't going have access to one of these.
For more info, see my post in the following old thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?p=181342 Interpreting the readout on the RM-95 might not be so simple however: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=11036 |
