Wide Angle question
I was wondering if a Century Optics .6x wide angle for an XL2 will fit on a Fx1. I know they make a special one for each camera but was wondering if the XL2 wide angle would work because they're both 72mm threads and I could get a Xl2 one pretty cheap, but I have an Fx1. Thanks for any help.

I *think* the lens is the same but uses different adaptors - see the following:

Thanks for that info, but I'll probably just get the one made for the fx1 so I won't have to get different adaptors.

The Century 72 mm thread 0.6x lens will screw into any camera that has a 72 mm thread, ie the DVX100, FX1, Canon A1 etc. If it's the bayonet one you're talking about then all three bayonets are different, so you must get a camera-specific version.
I used a Century 0.6x on my Z1 three days ago. Not for me all that barrel distortion, thank you. tom. |

The .8x wide-angle lens VCL-HG0872 made for the FX1/Z1 by Sony is a great lens, with full zoom-through. Not quite as wide as some, but then very little barrel distortion. Keep in mind that the FX1 already is pretty wide at its widest.
