My vegas timeline says 1440x1080 but when I save a frame capture within Vegas 7 at "Best/Full" then open it in Photoshop and look at the size it says... 1920 x 1080... why???

Carl,

I don't have Vegas, but from what you describe, it must have scaled the frame horizontally from the 1440 pixels (which is the standard for 1080i HDV) up to 1920 pixels in order to make the pixels square. Photoshop can deal with non-square pixels, but a lot of graphics software can't do this.

Interesting, Carl. When I do a frame grap in Premiere, and I open in Photo shop, I actually get a 1440 x 1080 nominal image that is distorted, and that I have to resize to the 1920 by 1080 to get a distortion free image. I think it has to do with the pixel aspect ratio, and the way they are converted. The Vegas output is probably converted properly.

Actually, both frame aspect ratios are 16x9. With 1920x1080, the pixel aspect ratio is 1:1 while 1440x1080 is 1:1.333.
