Z1 native pixel aspect ratio
Hi Sony users,
Doing some effects with AE here that will be used in a documentary that was shot with the Z1. In AE as well as Vegas, when I select 1080 in the project settings it switch the pixel aspect ratio to 1:33. Is that the native size when the Z1 records or is it just a preference both programs offers me? Thanks, Phil |

If you're working in HDV, you'll want to use the 1.333 PAR, as that is what the camcorder records. If you're using an intermediary codec (recommended) then you'll use a square aspect, or 1920 x 1080 frame size.

The master himself knocks at my door HIHIHI
Actually I am not playing with HD files per say. I am just creating animations in AE for that project, this is my first project with AE and my first attempt with HD settings. I notice that 1.33 in AE so I opened Vegas and created a new project and set it to 1080 and in the project window under the PAR setting it says "HDV 1080" next to the 1.3333 choice so I assumed it was the correct PAR to select. Since both apps are telling me the same things I still wanted to be sure before I create the whole animation. Thanks Spot Phil |
