Z1U warranty from Sony Store? at DVinfo.net

Hi,

I took delivery of a Z1U from BH Photo last week. Before the purchase, I was assured by one Sony Style store representative that he could sell me an extended warranty including accidental damage even if I didn't buy the product from Sony. He looked it up in the computer using BHPhoto as a dealer source and gave me quotes for 2, 3, and 4 years. Well, today, he was not in the store and the manager was stumped. Yes, they sell one for the FX1, but the Z1 is handled by the professional rather than the consumer division. Has anyone secured the Sony warranty ?

I'm willing to pay a bit more for the Sony warranty over the Mack extended warranty because there is a chance that my equipment will be dropped in the type of shooting that I do. In the last three years, nothing has happened to my VX2000, but I would rather be safe than sorry.
