On August 29th (the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina) the President and Mrs. Bush visited New Orleans. He gave an address at Warren Easton High School, which we recorded with our FX-1. The audio is sub-standard, as we were not patched directly into the Media Audio Box provided. The stage microphones were attached to the podium (instead of them using a lapel mic) and as the President moved, the sound levels were affected. We edited the audio in Sound Forge, adjusting levels and EQing accordingly. Video was recorded in HD and then bumped (in Vegas) to both DVD and .mov formats.
The quality of the finished 52 min. DVD (after adding a touch of contrast in Vegas) was better than anything I’ve ever done with my VX2000. Even the short .mov file held up pretty well. Take a look:
