Record to tape
Can anyone fill me in on a poor man's HD recorder? I just bought through mail order a set of 1 male to two female component splitters, 3 each along with 3 female to female connectors. I need to record some stuff from my Dish network receiver (not pirating, just for examples to my technician) and I don't have the DVR to record directly. In a pinch, I was going to split the signal out of the receiver and then connect it to my cable that came with the camera. The female connectors would connect the system.
Questions: Will the Z-1 record to tape the HD image and is it possible to bypass the camera altogether and go straight to hard drive? I don't have a raid. I won't get the cable till next week but thought someone might know if this will work. Jeff |

The Z1 will not record HDV over the composite cables. You will need a card in your PC that will take it in to some third party software.

Steve's right. Unfortunately, the only way to record in HD on the Z1 is shooting directly through the lens of the camera or via firewire.
