I have bought the Elite Video DVD that you mention and also "A complete guide to the HVR-Z1U and HDR-FX1" from
http://www.handsonhdv.com Both are informative and overlap quite a bit. If I had to choose between them I would go for the Handsonhdv one. It is more expensive, but I felt there was a lot more useful information.

I think both are good. The less expensive one is a little more like being shown the camera by a group of friends, where the other is more formal and has higher production values.
