FX problem getting footage to 4:3
I have just used the FX1 for the first time on a job. The other 2 cameras were shooting in DV 4:3 aspect ratio so I went into the FX menu and set it up. I changed the Rec Format to DV, TV Type to 4:3, VCR to DV and Rec Mode A/V-DV Out to On.
I have just captured the footage into Premiere 6.5 timeline. In the Source Window I have a 16:9 1024x576 and in the Program Window a squeezed version in 4x3 720x576, in which everyone looks thinner than they have ever been. In order to arrive at a non squeezed 4:3 I am using the Image Pan filter. This seems a long winded way to go about it. I must be doing something wrong, surely. But what ? Mike |

Mike,
when you went into the menu and selected DV, did you scroll down to where it says DV WIDE ON/OFF ? It comes under the camera icon settings, not the DV/HDV conversion section. Robin |

No I didn't, Robin.
And thank you very much for pointing it out ! I don't think the manual was very helpful on this option. Well I'll know better next time. Image Pan adjustment will have to do for now - unless there's a better way in post ? Thanks again, Mike |
