Battery Discharge for Storage

Hi,

I have been meaning to ask this question for quite some time.

Prior to an event I ensure that ALL of my batteries are charged. However, for the most part, I never end up exhausting all of them.

For battery storage purposes (and longevity) I then leave my cameras on (FX1, VX2100, and TRV27) in VCR mode (no tape) with the LCD closed to allow the batteries to discharge completely until they are required for use again.

This results in my VX2100, for example, possibly staying on for about 700 minutes (in the case of a fully charged, unused, Sony NP-F970 battery for example).

Does this 'standing' time clock up the 'camera hours' registers (on the FX1 and the VX2100), is this an acceptable method, and do you think this is harmful to the cameras?

Regards,

Dale.
