Any problems with Panny MQs in FX1/Z1?
I will probably have my FX1 early next week, and I plan to go with Panasonic MQ tape.
I'd like to know if ANYONE has had ANY problem at all with the Panny MQs in an FX1 or a Z1 (or HC1/A1U for that matter). |

I don't imagine there will be a problem. Remember that you're more prone to dropouts by not using the special HDV tape, although this hasn't been a big deal for most people.

As far as I can tell, the Sony HDV tapes and Panny MQs should be about equal for reducing dropouts, compared to standard grade tapes. I'm going with the MQs because the lubricant is supposed to reduce head wear significantly, in comparison to standard grade tapes, whereas I don't know that the Sony HDV tape lubricant would (I'm also intuitively more inclined toward the usage of dry lubricants). There's so little hard data (test data, etc.) published on the web, it's almost like buying tape blindly though. Maxell doesn't even make mention of the existance of their "pro" miniDV tape on their website!
