Buying batteries from overseas - is this ok?
I want to get another NPF-970 for my Z1 and have just noticed how much cheaper they are in the U.S. than here in Australia.
But I just want to confirm that the battery will work with my Z1P and that there isn't some compatability issue or anything like that? Surely someone has done this before and can confirm success? Thanks, -- John. |

I bought mine (the 960) used from B&H in New York. No problem at all. I made sure it was the Sony.

Be careful where you buy from. This topic has come up before; there seem to be a bunch of counterfeit Sony batteries, sold primarily on eBay. If the price seems too low I'd be suspicious. Check prices from B&H and our other sponsors here: http://www.dvinfo.net/sponsors/
If you see prices significantly lower than these for Sony batteries then I'd stay away from them... |

Thanks guys,
I'm way too paranoid to buy anyhting other than SONY batteries. I almost got fooled by the IMPACT 970 batteries at B&H but luckily realised it was different. Since there are no compatability issues I'll gladly make my purchase! Even with B&H's high shipping costs, the price is still a lot cheaper than buying them locally. |

When I got my Z1 from B&H they were all out of the Sony 970's, so I got one of the Power 2000 equivalents. I also have an real Sony 970 and a 960. The Power 2000 works just the same as the Sony 970, and the camera "thinks" it's an InfoLithium. Other forum members also have had good luck with them. But all things being equal, I also prefer the Sony's.
You'll be fine if shopping at B&H. But others have told stories of counterfeit batteries sold cheaply on eBay which are labeled as Sony but don't work properly. |

http://www.hawkwoods.com/ Absolutely fine, no problems, and there's currently an offer for two of them with a charger that will run off car's cigar lighter socket as well as from mains. £104 or thereabouts. |
