2nd camera under $1500 to go with fx1

I need help in choosing my 2nd camera to go with fx1 for 2cam weddings. My budget is under $1500. Sony HC1 can shoot in SD or HDV only?

For that price point, the HC1 will be the only good 2nd camera, since you will be shooting in HD and 16:9 widescreen. It will also make matching up cameras with similar color aspects easier as well.

If you could swing it, the A1 would make an even better addition, with added features like black stretch, DVCAM recording, dedicated hot shoe (the HC1 has a pain in the but propriatary one for Sony accessories only), programable 5 function quick access button (white balance, zebra etc.), and built in XLR (which can be removed if need be), and more. It can be had for around $2,500, and although more might be a better fot for a professional environment.
BTW, if you get either the HC1 or A1, remember to get a tripod adapter for the camera, or else you won't be able to change the battery or bottom loading tape when attached to a tripod.

See this thread on the bottom loading solution:

The best seem to be the tripod adapter and the custom one built buy Jeff DeMaagd, who posts here.

The HC1 can shoot in either SD or HD.
Why would you want to shoot in SD when you would be using 2 HD cameras?
Since HD video and even HD downconverted to Sd video will look much better than SD video, you should always shoot in HD in my view, then capture in HD and convert to intemediary codec, then output to HD or standard SD (which will look better than standard SD camera recording).
