To buy a shotgun for my Z1
I decide to buy Audio-Technica AT-897 shotgun for my Z1. I want to make sure if I can directly mount AT-897 to Z1 without other accessary.
Please advise. Thanks. |

I myself do not have a Z1U, i have an FX1 but i believe reading before that it can be done. You might need a little bit of foam to pad it becuase i think it may be a little smaller than the stock Z1u mount, but other than that you should be good.

You will need one other accessory. A 2" piece of bicycle inner tube. ;-) One wrap around the AT897 and it will fit snuggly into the mic mount. (at least that’s what I use on my Z1) As Ben pointed out, the Z1 mic mount is slightly larger than the AT series mics.

Get you a At8415 universal shock mount with a At8469 camera mount adapter and a dead cat. We have 13 Z1's where I work and all are rigged out this way and it is by far way better than placing mic in camera mic holder. You cant hear your zoom or hand vibrations due to the highth you get from the AT rig, it works great for us and it is also very flexible if you have a boom with a 3/8 male adapter screw, just unscrew from the AT8469 and screw onto your boom. Great for Run and gun, hope this helps.
