50i mode
Sorry if this has been asked, but I wasviewing a couple of thw clips posted at the Vasst site, mallard and mosquito that were very nice and shot in 1440x1080 50i. 25 fps. Does the FX1 do that, or do you have to get the Z1U for that feature?

The FX1E does, (that is the FX1 model for the PAL region). However it does NOT do 60i.
If you buy an NTSC compatible FX1 it does not do 50i, only 60i. Only the Z1 can do 50i AND 60i. PS, though it says otherwise, I'm fairly sure those 50i clips on the VASST site are CF25. |

Thanks.
The clips are most assuredly 25 frames/sec viewed within an mpeg editor. If that's the mpeg stream CF25 outputs, then that's what I need, never mind that the FX1 doesn't output 50i interlaced video from the component video port. Have I got this right? The FX1 includes the CF25 mode but not 50i output? |

The US FX1 has no access to anything to do with CF25 or 50i. The US FX1 does CF24, CF30, and 60i.
The European FX1 has CF25 and 50i, but it cannot do CF24 of CF30 or 60i. Only the Z1 can do both. |

the American/Japanese FX1 does 60i, with CF24 (yuk) and CF30.. The European FX1E can do with 50i with CF25. Any Z1 can do ALL of the above frame rates CF25 is basically a subset of 50i, therefore any sony HDV camera that does 50i will do CF25, from the Z1 all the way down to the HC1. the VASST 50i/CF25 footage was certainly shot on a FX1E in Europe. |
