Iam also in pal country and after sleepless nights and hrs of reading these forums i took the plunge and got the FX1, i see from your posts that you are shooting for broadcast, just 1 question do you just shoot 16:9 sd with the FX1, no HD yet.

Hi Ian,
Yes, I only shoot in SD - BBC Wales have a directive that unless otherwise asked for, the camera is only to be used in SD 16:9 mode. It's more than paid for itself without having to switch to HDV - one of the reasons that the Beeb went over to the Z1 was the native 16:9. They needed a replacement for the PD170 now - the HD side will be handy later as well... I heard today that a doc that I shot recently for an arts series was being edited in a local facilities house and the editor thought that it was the best DV material he'd ever seen! - I'm giving the camera the credit here - ;-) Robin |
