video outputs on Z1
Hi,
I am working with someone that is shooting with a Sony Z1 as my second camera going through a switcher. When we connect the component output, the s-video and the composite video out signals go dead. Is this standard or is there a setup in the menu? The Sony manual, I could not find anything about this. Thanks for your help! All the best and Happy New Year! James |

Almost all Sonys in this class only do one analog output at a time, and it always defaults to the highest quality analog output connected. This behavior does not include the digital Firewire out, which could be connected simultaneously along with an analog out.
There's no setting for this and no way around it on the Z1. Edit: It's not necessarily a digital/analog thing, though. On the newer Z5, you can do both FW and HDMI at once, but must choose between HDMI or composite/component. If HDMI is active, component is dead.

Thanks Adam. That is exactly what we experienced.
Too bad it is not mentioned in the manual. All the best, James |
