fried Mic/Line jack on HDR-FX1
Okay, so it finally happened. Took five years to do it but I finally managed to screw up my FX1E (PAL). Was setting up for a live seminar event and needed line in from audio mixer (Peavey XR800F). The sound technician (God knows what he was thinking) gave me a SPEAKER OUT which I unknowingly inserted directly into my FX1's line/mic jack!.Bang! Fzzzztttttt! Poooffff!
After the argument which almost ended up in a punch-out I huffed and puffed may way out (probably damaging my reputation too) and made my way to a nearby technician. After taking my trusty camera apart, in the most nonchalant way he asked for $250 (converted from my local currency) to get it fixed!!!! WHAT!?!?!?! I felt like punching HIM! Is that how much this should cost!!???? The reason I took it to him was that he said he could fix it within 24 hours whereas the official Sony workshop takes a week! I don't have a week! Besides, its just the mic/line in jack that's fried, everything else (including the built-in camera mic) seems to be working just fine. So.....my question to you all would be: how much should this repair cost? Anyone get it done before? HELP!
