DVCAM Playback?

Hey, I'm looking to upgrade from my current PDX10 to the FX1 (It should be noted I can't afford the Z1U.)

I won't miss the XLR inputs too much, and I don't mind the lack of DVCAM recording. My question is--I have a good 30 or 40 tapes recorded in DVCAM. Any chance the FX1 can play back DVCAM tapes? Has anyone tested this? I want to get the camera, but it would be a bit of a pain if I lose the ability to play back my DVCAM tapes. If worst comes to worst, I'll buy a cheap DVCAM compatable deck, but it would be a plus if the FX1 could play back the old DVCAM tapes. Thanks in advance for helping me out on this one!

Nice to know. Note that all most any Sony DV device will play back a miniDVCam tape -- other than the two models that predated the release of the DVCam format. So if the FX1 won't do it, just buy any old Sony DV camcorder.

Sorry if I sound incompetent... but what's nice to know?
I didn't really think I gave any information, I asked a question...

It sounds like you're saying that the FX1 should play back the mini DVCAM tapes. Can you (or someone else) confirm this? Thanks in advance (again)

Sorry for the vague speak. I meant [it would be] 'nice to know' [about the FX1]. The only information I _can_ offer is that almost all Sony DV camcorders will play DVCam -- whether the FX1 can be added to that list ... would be nice to know!

Thanks for the clarification!

Can anyone here confirm whether the FX1 can play DVCAM?
