Not final: detailed comparison chart

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I found, today, a pdf document in a japanese
forum. It list a great number of differences between HDR-FX1 and HVR-Z1 and
this give me to think that even if there is no 24P mode, the difference in price
is quite justify. But the document also point that there is second Cineframe mode in the Pro model that is not available in the consumer model. Has said in other threads of this forum, it maybe a new kind of simulated 24P.

Here's the link for the PDF: http://videoacademy.com/file/camera/...HDV-HVR-Z1.pdf

My Sony dealer saw this and said....."That's a Sony Document alright"

I would think this is accurate.

Cheers

aha, the 46 differences revealed at last!

At last, the 46 or so differences revealed in the last few pages of this interesting document - well, so there will be 2 types of cineframe 24 and two types of cineframe 30 - but not much other info...

the other differences seem sorta, well, dare I say.... some are trivial.

Looks like PAL FX1E for me - best bang for my filmmaking buck...

page 40 ?

Why does it say the z1 has 480p component output ? Does that mean what it says ?

480P output

I guess that Sony will offer true progressive scan on the pro model but only in DV 480P in order to compete with with Canon XL2 and Pana DVX100A. I also guess that they will wait a couple of year before releasing a 720 24P upgrade on the Z1 camera. Maybe they wait to see what their competitor (Canon + Pana)will do in this field. I dont expect Canon going with a XL3 very soon... Has Sony repeatedly saying: this is a work on progress...

I think that when they said there are 2 24 frame modes, they meant 1 for Pal mode and 1 for NTSC mode. Basicly, different pulldowns.

I agree - this makes sense

cam is 60i/50i switchable, so 2 Cf modes will be 24/25 and 30/25 or whatever - gosh, I'm confused. well, I'm sure this is more the idea and 2 modes isn't cineframe vs. true 24p/progressive as we might be hoping...
