more HDR-FX1 footage! from Tokyo Press Conference

Hi folks.

Saw this in a thread at www.dvxuser.com so thought I'd share it here....

http://www.dvworld.com.tw/product/fx1_part2/

at the bottom left are links for a zip file. I believe it is a 12 second clip filmed with a mini-dv off a high-definition monitor - it's only 12 seconds - but looking at this site and getting a taste of the footage - it again makes me think this "consumer" HDV stuff is lookin' pretty darned good.

Enjoy.

Let the debates begin.

actually, this site says a lot

If you study the site closely, you'll see what was offered at the Tokyo press conference - what jumped out at me is the pic on pg. 2 showing the cam plugged into HDTV monitors for participants to come up and view closely at their own leisure. Wow - they're not afraid to show how good/bad this thing shoots - which leads me to suspect it probably doesn't shoot too badly.

Just the way this press conference seemed to be set up - you can see that Sony is really strutting like a proud peacock here - it's like they really sense they've got something here.

Go to www.sonybiz.net and if you look under HDCam section too you'll read how Sony considers HDV to be part of the HD family, the entry-point for cost-conscious shooters - it reminds me of the way Panny used to tout the DVX100 as the only way to shoot true 24p under $20,000 or so...

Folks, I'm thinkin' Christmas will be in November this year.

not that clip! the one at the BOTTOM LEFT of the site

It's below the jpg of the guy holding the cam and doing a test - that's a wmv.

underneath that, further down, is a zipped file link called "hdv-demo.zip" or something like that.

that's the footage!

I was assuming it was actual footage recorded WITH the FX1 and not OF the FX1, sorry.

That footage was actually worse than the first one. 320X240 low bit rate WM9.

Thanks tho'.
