Hyper-gain on the Z1

Has anyone ever used (or found a use for) the hyper-gain setting on the Z1? It's fun to play with in the dark but I've never actually shot any footage at this setting, though I do keep it on CP2 just to amuse guests at weddings ('Look, I can see what you're doing').

I helped shoot a commercial for a fitness store where we used hypergain. We shot a weightlifter using very dramatic lighting and hypergain and shot it with the white balance very warm. It produced a very striking image. It was shot on Beta SP. Unfortunately it required a lot of touch up in post because the camera had a dead pixel that stood out like a sore thumb when the camera was on hypergain.
