FX1 finally seems to be discontinued
Well, at least according to the B&H Photo website: Sony | HDR-FX1 HDV 1080i Camcorder | HDRFX1 | B&H Photo Video

This camera still does a pretty nice job, even against the new camera if care is taken.

Well, we'll keep the forum going for another year or two anyway.

Please do! I can't afford the new Sony models so am buying the FX1e as a second user. My hunch is that there will be a few of us using these for several years to come!

Yeah the FX1 and Z1 are a gem. I upgraded to an EX1 and sometimes I do wish I was holding the Z1. The roller shutter thingy is a killer for weddings and fashion shows!

If FX1 production really has come to an end (it's been announced fairly regularly every year or so) it'll have run what - 4 years? That's pretty darn good in this day and age - better than the PD/VX, yes?

I still think the Z1 will be in the minds of many people as they are still plentiful out there.

Just to clarify, the Z1 has NOT been discontinued, only the FX1: Sony Product Detail Page - HVRZ1U
