Problems with frozen buttons, menu inaccessible, no firewire connectivity

Sorry if this has been posted before - I couldn't find anything by searching. My FX1, which is fairly lightly used (probably less than 200hrs operation, 100hrs drum), is working at about 60%. You can turn the camera on and it powers up. You can used the record button and record works fine. All auto functions seem to work. HOWEVER, when you try to access the menu via the buttons on the back, or used the keypad below the finder, nothing works. It is as if you are not touching the button at all.

I am clueless. Tried hitting the reset button and got nothing. Just wanted to see if the experts here might have something I could try before it goes off to the shop.

TY for any advice.

Does the FX1 have an auto lock/hold button like my Z1? If yes, maybe you've got it on auto lock by mistake.

Nah, it's something different than that.

Sony wants $511 flat rate for the repair. That's re-g&*%#n-diculious. That's like 1/4 of the price of the camera. I have enjoyed this camera and it has given me the video I expected, but if I have to pay this much for a repair with so little time on the heads (my old DVX has 8XXhrs and runs strong), my next camera will not be a Sony.

You might try Armatos instead of Sony:

I haven't needed to use them myself, but I've come across many positive comments about them. Search DVINFO and you'll see.
