24p, 30p... What?! Should I even care?
I've done searches and debated for 10 minutes where to post this question.
Please bear with me... I have a Z1. I get that it doesn't shoot true 24p or 30p. And honestly, I admit it! I'm too inexperienced to really tell the difference either between CF24 and CF30 rather than actual progressive video! Maybe it's my vision? :) No... must be my brain! Anyways, I know I do like the look that true 24 and 30p gives. And I know that exactly NONE of the video I shoot is ever going to make its way to your local movie theater (I'll do 2 weddings a year if that). So with all the talk about the V1 and the Z7... I'm even wondering if I should save up for one of those or buy another Z1. If I use the Nattress filters or use the Cineframe modes... and I can't really tell the difference... will the two brides I shoot for tell the difference either? On another related note... I know the Z1 shoots 50i and CF25. I've seen others say that when in that mode it shoots 25p... but that's not correct, is it? Isn't it 25i instead? |

it'd be 50i which could be deinterlaced... I've discussed it using Cineform here:

Should you care? No!
Blake, do you like the way your video looks? How about your clients? If so, then don't worry about progressive.
Don't be so quick to discard Sony's CineFrame options - we all know they are not true progressive, but some of us actually like them! It's all a matter of taste - you can tell me all you want that pistachio ice cream is the best, I still think coffee ice cream is the best... Probably the best thing you can do is: do some testing of your own. To stay with my ice cream... the best test of it is eating it... see how it "tastes"... |
