No Component Out with Firewire In?
I'm trying to monitor picture from component out of my FX1 to a Sony PVM 1344. Works fine when playing back tape, but as soon as I plug in the 1394 cable, the component out signal goes away. I can see the picture from the timeline (PPro) in the FX1's viewfinder just fine but it won't pass through to the component out. I'm editing a standard def dv project, the FX1 is set to DV Conv 'on' and VCR is 'auto'. The Component out is set to '480i'. Any ideas or is this just a quirk of the FX1?

From memory, you can't do this on a Sony Z1P, so I doubt you'll be able to do it on a FX1.

Thanks for the bad news-it does seem weird though.

I guess it just costs a bit more in electronics so companies like Sony and Panasonic just leave these things out. One of the things that REALLY annoys me is that you can't get composite and component out of a HVX at the same time. I think this is the same on the Sony Z1P. Oh well!
