White balance and PP settings in FX1?!

Now since I'm at work I cant actually test this till I get home but thats 8hours away and I cant wait that long.
So why not share my thought and see if someone else has the answer =)

Say I have PP1 active with color +2, WB +2 and some other settings and I white balance. Does it incorporate PP1 settings into the equation when white balancing? So PP1 is no longer warmer with a color of +2 and WB +2, but a cool sony white??

Would I have to white balance without PP1 active then activate it once I've white balanced?

/Björn.

AFAIK the WB shift affects whatever mode WB is in (although I've never actually tried it). But am also guessing it doesn't affect the actual white balance calculation, just the way it is applied. So my *guess* is that you could WB with the PP active, then turn it off and have WB revert to normal without the need to set it again.

On my Z1 I assign one button to WB+ and another to WB- so I can tweak as desired in 500K increments. This is a really handy feature... can the FX1 also do that? However, in this case if you also had an active PP with WB+2 then that would be the starting point for further shifts using the assign buttons.

See the following for a trick I like to use which takes advantage of this: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=79394

Boyd - I have assign buttons set exactly as you have - as fine control over the daylight w/bal. It is such an excellent idea (and no, the FX1 can't do this) that I feel Z1s should all come pre-programmed like this, as when I tell fellow Z1 users about this they're often delighted.

What's even nicer is the fact that if I push assign button 5 five times I arrive at the artificial light setting, and this then leaves me two w/bal switch positions for other things (inside the marquee, for instance).

People forget that the sun going behind clouds, people going under the shade of a tree etc all raise the light's colour temperature. But all Boyd and I do is tap button 6 once or twice and presto, sorted! Sun comes out again? Tap buttom 5 and keep on shooting.

I've even used it as the couple come down the aisle. They leave an artificially lit situation and end up in sunlight at the church doors. I can give button 6 a tap every now and then and I've stayed in manual w/bal mode yet saved myself a timeline headache.
