Confused About Resolution
In this picture--http://bssc.sel.sony.com/Broadcastan...evices_bc.html--Sony seems to be clearly saying the Sony 960x1080 1/4" CMOS sensor has a higher resolution than the Canon 1440x1080 1/3" CCD sensor. Note the bricks.
But how can this be? Given that this shot is static, can interlaced vs. progressive recording be an issue? Thanks, David |

From Sony's site: "The signals from the four surrounding photodiodes are used to reproduce one more signal with the Enhanced Imaging Processor™" As to P vs I. From my experience the JVC's 720p looks better than the Sony A1U's 1080i. Again, that's subjective. I have taken shots with the Sony of macro items on a tripod which do look tack sharp, with virtually no motion. As soon as the image moves all bets are off on that little camera. I'm hoping the V1 is native (p) and the rips and tears and other (i) artifacts are gone. |
