V1E LCD Light Guide Panel

Hi,

I have a Sony V1E and some water has got into the LCD monitor, causing damage to the light guide panel that sits behind it. I know how to replace it, but can't find the parts in the UK. Does anyone know anyone who ships this part to UK, or supplies within the UK? I'm not happy about the £470 flat fee for repair with Sony, but I'm thinking it's inevitable!

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dean.

Re: V1E LCD Light Guide Panel

I can report a happy ending to this one. The light block seems to have dried out and has leapt back into action and has been working for 2 days now. For anyone else with a similar problem, 1st Aid Repairs - Specialists in the repair of portable electronic equipment were quoting a likely repair cost of £180 which even included a replacement Printed Circuit Board if this proved necessary.

Dean.

Re: V1E LCD Light Guide Panel

Quick addition to this thread... the light guide panel eventually failed me again but I located BSC - Broadcast Service Centre, Video Equipment Sales, Broadcast Equipment Sales Repair and Service who were able to supply the Sony replacement parts within 48 hours and I'm back up and running again. Just over £140 for the parts (light guide panel and circuit board, easy to fit too). Just thought I would post in case anyone else has any similar issues.
