Hood for VCL-HG0862 ?

I've just bought an FX7 that came with a VCL-HG0862 (the non-K version, with no hood).

Is it possible to buy a 86mm thread rectangular hood? (Might the EX1's hood work?)

Thanks in advance.

[Edit: fixed incorrect reference to FX1 ... I shouldnt post late at night!]

Hmmm. Really? The FX1? Are you using that lens w/ a step-up ring or something? Or did you mean the FX7?

If you have the VCL-HG0862 and wish to purchase the hood that would have come with the K version, you should be able to purchase it individually through a Sony Parts Dealer.

Thanks guys - am I correct in assuming that the K and non-K versions of the 0.8X adapter are identical, it's just the latter comes with a hood?

My FX7 hasnt arrived yet - is there an image online anywhere of the hood+adapter fitted to a camera? - trying to get a sense of how bulky it would be....

Edit: found an image here: http://www.sonypro.com.mx/HVR-V1N/es/acce.html

Graham,

Here's some comparison photos showing the lens on my V1, compared to the standard lens.

It does make the cam a bit front heavy (not helped by the mic!) but I do like the big hood.

Thanks Mike!

Leslie - thanks also. I need to handle the camera for a bit when it arrives before I decide about this - I may be in touch.
