Best Replacement V1 Mic Query
Looking for some suggestions for a quality replacement mic can substitute for the standard V1 mic (which I find too weak).
What do people suggest? Not looking to spend more than £200 ideally. Is the Rode NTG2 good enough? |

You may want to post this in the audio section of the website. Or at least do some research there, because there's already a ton of great advice there.
They'll also help you figure out whether a shotgun mic is the best mic to suit your needs. So when you post there, tell them what you'll be using it for. Personally, I prefer hypercardiods to shotguns as I'm recording indoors more often than I'm recording outdoors. |

Ntg-1
Since the V1 has phantom power you probably shouldn't get the NTG-2 which has space for a AA battery, and this makes the NTG-2 very bulky.
Get the NTG-1 which is much more compact unless you plan on also using it on cameras without phantom power such as the Canon HV20. Rode makes great and very cost-effective mics, so the NTG-1 is a great choice. Tip McPartland |
