Streaming Live Video...possible?
Is there a way to stream live video from an HVR-hd1000? As far as I can tell, the firewire connection only functions in play/edit mode. I'm I missing something?

The Firewire should put out a signal while in camera mode, even without a tape inserted. Products like TeleStream's Wirecast software are made specifically for live streaming using DV and HDV cameras as a LIVE source via 1394, I just used it yesterday in a demo.

Set your Camera to DV mode and if you're streaming to a site such as Ustream, make sure to get Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder: media encoder, video capture software, audio capture software | Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder

Thanks!
It was a problem with the DV mode as mentioned above. Simple little thing, but suddenly the applications I wanted to use the camera for worked perfectly...LOL.
