Undocumented Features/Functions? at DVinfo.net

Somehow, I distinctly remember there being a thread here once about the undocumented or secret features/functions on the HC1/A1 or something. I've been searching for it forever and can't seem to locate it. I've browsed through all the pages on the HC1/A1 area, used the search function as well as the advanced search function with all the possible queries I can think of, but I still can't find the thread.

What happened to it? Or am I just dreaming and there never existed such a thread? I would like to re-read some of the info from that old thread.

The autofocus switch on the A1 has 3 settings—I can see the obvious difference between the manual and the auto settings, but what is the function of the middle setting, the one that seems to be marked zoom?

In the forward setting (marked Zoom), focus is auto and the control ring around the lens zooms. In the middle position, focus is auto, and the control ring is disabled. In the rearmost position (marked manual), the control ring is used to focus.
