yet another new Sony HDV cam!
Sony isn't resting on its laurels. Just as soon as they put out the Z1, here comes another HDV camera -or cameras, to be precise. The HDR-HC1 and HVR-A1U, both using a single CMOS chip instead of CCDs. They look like Sony's versions of the JVC HD1.

Nice looking cameras. Wonder how they will perform in low light.

How Good is 1 CMOS against 3 CCD?
The first JVC cameras were single CCD, these are single CMOS, so it is totally different. These new cameras will record and playback HDV, DVCAM and mini DV.
A question for anyone... in the CCD world, 3 CCDs was it. No replacement for that. In the CMOS world, is it necessary 3 CMOS or that just doesn't exist? (forgive for this basic question) I've heard that the best digital photography cameras are CMOS based and not CCD. -EDWIN |
