HVR-A1 DV widescreen playback on DV 4:3 tv
Hello DVinfo
This is my first post here so apologies if this has been covered before I couldn't find it. It's the first time in a year and a half that my HVR-A1P is not doing what I expect. I want to playback a DV PAL widescreen 16:9 timeline through the camera to a regular SD PAL 4:3 TV and I want the picture to letterbox, but whatever settings I play with the picture always 'squeezes' and fills the screen. The NLE in this case is Edius v4.54, I have tried it with Prem Pro v2 as well, the NLE project/timeline is DV PAL widescreen 16:9 all of the captured footage is 16:9 aspect. The camera is connected to my laptop via the iLink/IEEE1394 sockets. The picture on the camera screen is 'wide' i.e. it fills the cameras flipout screen. The camera is connected to the TV using the standard yellow A/V out plug. I get the picture on to the TV without out any unusual problems but it always 'squeezes' to fill the screen. I'm sure I've tried al the possible camera record and playback options and I can't get the picture to letterbox. Playing from the camera tape to TV only will letterbox but not when the signal originates from my computer. Does anyone know the secret or have any suggestions of what I may have missed? regards simon |
