HD resolution question
I was on Apples HD site and they call, 480, 720, and 1080 HD.
But on the other side the numbers go all over the place: 720x 960 720x1264 720x1280 or 1440x1080 1920x 1080 ARe these size different because an editor did that? why is this? also: my camera hcr-hc3 says 1080 on it. So isn't everything that comes up going to have a 1080 side? Or can I also get true HD at 480 or 720 sides. thanks! |

Where on Apple's site specifically did you see this... please post the link.
The ASTC defines High Definition as *any* resolution higher than 720x480. Most common HD sizes for broadcast are 1280x720 and 1920x1080. 1440x1080 is a very common acquisition size (used by HDCAM and other formats). So-called "true HD" is merely a marketing term. Try not to get hung up in marketing terms. |

Thanks Chris:
Well, for this project, saying I'm shooting in true HD, may be an important thing, so I need to get it right. My editor said you need 1080 or 1280 to be true def, buy you are confirming then that you can say true HD at 720? Here is the link: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/hd/ |
