Sony C Series HG Lens for 37mm Threads

More specifically the Sony VCL-HG0737C High-grade Wide-angle Converter Lens.

Has anyone used one of these yet? I know that there are plenty of the Y and X series out there, but so far none of the C series are reported.

If anyone has one - how is it performing?

I just received mine on Tuesday, shot with it Wednesday and am very, very happy with it. Very sharp from wide and zooming through. What I did not realize is that the front is smaller than the Y version (just over 71mm) and the Cavision hood listed to fit the Y version is 77mm.

J.D. - how did you go with your weekend test? Duane seems really happy - are you as happy with yours?

I haven't been able to see the results on an HD screen or computer yet but the lens was great to work with. I'll be able to tell you more next weekend when I get home from vacation, but based on what I know right now I'd recommended it.

Has anyone figured out a lens hood for this lens yet?

After I bought mine, I searched around trying to come up with a lens shade. I dug through a box of hoods I had collected over the years. Found a Hasselblad Bay60 38-60 lens hood. It is a bayonet mount hood for some of their lenses from 38mm to 60mm. I ran two layers of gaffers tape around the inside of hood opening, which covers up the bayonet. It press fits on the VCL-HG0737C lens perfectly, sliding right up to the gray rubber ring on the lens, and stays put. I made a cap out of foam core and gaffers tape.

Here is one http://cgi.ebay.com/HASSELBLAD-BAY-6...QQcmdZViewItem
This is just to show the item, I am not advertising an auction!

Attached are pictures of mine, both attached to the lens and not.

Cheers/Duane
