Netbook & Sony Utility

I'm thinking of buying a netbook so when I'm away I can copy the files onto the netbook saving me buying more CF cards.

Does the Sony program need a certain spec of PC to run?

I dont want to do anything other than combine all the clips from each 16GB CF card and store them until I get back home.

Another question I have is I was only planning to purchase 2 CF cards to begin with and wanted to copy the data onto the netbook so I could reuse the card.

But the program needs to see the MRC1K to rebuild the files into 1 video file?

So I'd have to copy the raw files off the CF to Netbook into VIDEO DIR 01 reuse the card, but to use the Sony program I'd need to copy those files back onto the CF to get them processed?

Or is it just easier to purchase 4-5 CF cards?

The program itself is really simple and lightweight -- it doesn't even really "install" on the PC. It's just an executable file you click to make work. And I use a CF reader built into my monitor for transferring and joining the clips -- I never hook up the MRC to anything -- they stay attached to the Z5s at all times.

Once the files are joined, I would think you could copy them to any USB thumb drive and transfer anywhere you'd want.

Except that if your USB thumb drive is fat32, you're back to the same file size limitation. You would have to transfer them to an NTFS or Ext3 or HFS formatted drive.
