Zu1 and EX-3 with Sony hard disk recorder
Is is possible to use the Sony DR 60 with the Zu1 tapless?
What about the EX-3 without a SxS card? Thanks Ronnie Martin www.dirtracingvideo.com

I use the HR60 with my Sony HVR-Z1U all the time but I do keep a tape in the camera as a backup and to enable the LANC. You can't use a LANC controller to start and stop recording because there is no tape in the transport! You have to use the record button on the DR-60 which is guaranteed to cause camera shake. I would imagine that the only other drawback to using it tapeless is that the yellow blinking "no tape" warning will always be plastered across your LCD. Other than that, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
It would be nice if Sony issues firmware upgrade to make the Z1 more compatible with the DR-60 like the V1 is. ~jr

Thanks Ronnie
