Pushing the XDCAM HD in the UK
I went to a meeting this morning at one of the UKs biggest gear suppliers ProCam in London.
It was to see what format the second series of a very succesful docudrama show for FIVE would be shot on now it was being shot in high def. I went along as I will probably shoot one of them and I have relationship wih the production company. Tha Varicam and XDCAM F350 were on display (the HDCAM was out on hire). I was surprised how much the Procam man bigged up the XDCAM even though he wouldnt make as much money from hiring it. Talking up the huge savings in post and saying how good the images were. He said of course the HDCAM F900 is streets ahead but not for the money. I hope more and more people are talking it up, it is a superb format and things should really only get better. It would be criminal if it didn't! |

picture quality...we shall see. We are doing a test shoot of the three cams and see how they compare with each other.
The one thing we did find was the JVC Varicam was about a stop and a bit faster than the XDCAM and shooting in progressive loses you about another stop... |
