Lens Files

I've seen other posts on this subject but really only with regard to communication between the camera and lens. Have any of you actually fine tuned your 350 with a given lens via lens file manipulation? I'm speaking especially of chromatic abherations and the like. If you've done it and it makes a big difference can you post the procedure? Thanks in advance.

Ahem....I have dialed some correction into my lens. The lens files won't do much in the way of eliminating CA. They are primarily for the elimination of white shading and flare. Some of the parameters are for the elimination of white shading with an adapter attached to the front of the lens.

Basically, you'll need a good vectorscope to monitor with, an EVENLY LIT white target, and some patience. After performing BB, do a WB on the target, look at the vectorscope. You should see a circular dot in the middle. If it's not circular, adjust your VMOD to make it as close to round as possible.

R FLARE, G FLARE, B FLARE will move the entire dot towards or away from each of those primary colors. If you WB and the waveform is in the middle, regardless of what shape, you don't need to adjust these.

That should help you some. For the other parameters like H and V SAW and PAR, you need to be able to monitor the composite video signal with a scope.

Nope, they're on the first page of lens adjustments right under the VMOD adjustment.
