Vegas 7.0
For XDCAM owners---Vegas comes out tomorrow and it has many improvements for you guys.
1. Proxy Support 2. ilinkFAM and network support 3. A new XDCAM browser 4. XDCAM master to disc. 5. New SD and HD import and export. 6. Render to mxf for XDCAM I think the XDCAM useres are the big winners---the rest---well they are already grumbling.

If you are at IBC come and see me on the sony stand for a free 30 day trial disk. The XDCAM integration is very good, but it has a qurilky interface.

Vegas has by far the best XDCAM integration available of any current edit package. It works native with any current XDCAM format with real time performance on sensibly spec'd PC's. It's a very powerful edit package with some very nice scripting features that can do all sorts of cleaver import/export stuff. For me however it has an interface that is quite different from what I am used to.
By the way I don't work for Sony. But I was invited by sony to demonstrate how XDCAM integrates with Avid/Vegas and FCP on the interoperability stand at IBC.

As you say Alastair, Vegas has by far the best XDCAM integration of any of the NLE's thus far. Only things I'd like to see is a background conform and partial file transfer via FAM (currently it can only do this via ethernet). But apart from that it works quite nicely.
