Sony PXW-500 Launched
Not sure if this has been posted somewhere yet...but I noticed on my Twitter feed that Sony have launched two more cameras, this being the more interesting one (to me anyway).

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
Looks like an eventual replacement for the PMW-500. Both use CCD sensors.

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
Thanks Andy,
Great to know the 500 will get XAVC. I owned a PMW-500 and should have never sold it, the best camera i have owned for my work. |

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
Interesting to see that they still go for CCD's.. But it is great that they finally support 1080p50..

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
That's the big thing: 1080p50/1080p60 on CCDs. Albeit it is the 50mbps Long-GOP only, and I wish XAVC Intra had those frame rates. It's pretty odd all the ENG cameras don't have 200Mbps XAVC Intra at 1080/60p.

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
Most news and doc production companies would baulk at 200Mbps.
50Mbps long GoP is much more manageable and there will be very little difference in quality between 50Mbps long GoP and 200Mbps Intra.

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
I find it odd that option is available in the F5 and F55. Panasonic is offering that as an AVC-Ultra addon with some of their cameras. Intra is more for post-production heavy workflows.

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
I wonder if there is a software upgrade. I've had my 500 for years and love it.
I agree Paul, you should have kept yours mate. Ah it's all good. |

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
F5 and F55 ONLY have Intrafarme XAVC. It would be great to have Interframe on the F5/F55, especially for the 4K.

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched
I must be thinking of the Z100 then. I assumed the F5 and F55 had Long GOP.
