Speaking as a "fix-it" guy... usually it's best to bring in "everything" if you aren't sure!
BUT, in this case, where the "problem" seems to be isolate-able, probably don't "have" to have the camera in the shop if it's just lenses that need cleaning (that, and maybe less shooting into bright lights if possible). Sometimes the best advice goes something like this: Patient: Hey doc, it hurts when I do THIS... Doc: well DON'T DO THAT!! Little bits of dust and dirt are a real serious nuisance though!! And humidity related "issues"... and spilled beer... and angry girlfriends... but that's another story for another time. In short, after a while in the repair biz, you start to see what causes many product failure modes <wink>! |

I was told way back that SD lenses on an HD camera could have "color problems" due to the coating being different.. not sure if that was just the manufacturers talking their book, although it was a well respected tech guy who told me that.. although there again I don't think that would cause that bright blu spot.. but generally I do believe you need the higher spec construction /tolerances of an HD lens with HD camera,s..

Hi,
the A-Series (especially WA, long zoom) is surely not a perfect lens regarding HD, youŽll face heavy Chromatic Abberrations in contrasty scenes and quite a soft picture. But depart from that your blue spot isnt a normal "SD Lens" thing. I am sure its a kind of flare inside the lens or leaking light coming into the barrel. To sort that out IŽd recommend to visit a collegue with an std HD-Lens and make an A/B comparison. Best regards ULI |
