1/2 inch lens comparison
I made some comparison test shots for sharpness, with the three 1/2-inch Canon lenses that I have for my 1/2 inch XDCAM camera: YH19x6.7KRS (SD), YH16x7 KRS (SD), and KH10ex3.6 irse (HD).
Shots were made with aperture 4; focusing on a 42 inch monitor; zoom ratio different of course, because of the different focal lenghts; identical camera settings; screen grab from XDCAM browser; desaturated in Photoshop to concentrate on sharpness alone. You'll notice that there is very little difference. In fact the minor difference in sharpness between the 3 lenses is overruled completely by even the smallest mistake in focusing. I focused on a 42 inch screen to get the ultimate precision, but when focusing with the camera's viewfinder, it is virtually impossible to reach the precision that is needed to bring out the difference between these lenses. Of course, with scientific equipment that can actually measure sharpness, the differences will be more apparent (I presume)...
