XDcam Browser 1.2 released
A new version of XDcam Browser Version 1.2 has been released.
[New features added in Version 1.2] - Added a feature to load the proxy data of MXF-format clips recorded on a USB flash drive. - Added the Offline Media feature. This allows the proxy data of MXF-format clips to be copied to local devices and to be loaded. (for Mac OS) - Added the network connections feature. This allows files to be transferred between XDCAM devices and servers over a network. (for Mac OS) - Added a feature to display the rewrite life of the selected SxS-1 memory card inserted in an ExpressCard slot of the computer. a) - Added a feature to support FAT32 formatting of SxS memory cards. a) Sony of Canada: E-Support Cheers, Tim.

When this came out, I recall you had to have FCP open and running which made an upgrade to this version of zero interest to me. Equally so, the settings such as aperture, frame rate etc were not available as in previous versions.
Have these two items been fixed? |

I've been using 1.3 for a couple of weeks now, and many of my original complaints about Clip Browser 1.0 have been addressed. It still has some quirks, and I personally still prefer the older XDCAM EX / XDCAM Transfer workflow, but for anyone just getting started with XDCAM -- 1.3 is probably the way to go now. Who knows how long the legacy applications will continue to function without Sony updating them? It is good to see the new software is almost up to speed before that day.
