HDVF-C30W Color viewfinder
Just a shameless heads up for those of you who don't constantly haunt the classifieds: I've sold my HDCam, but not its fabulous color viewfinder, which fits on all the HDCam and XDCam cameras.
Listing is here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/private-...ml#post1619267 |

Hi Bill,
just to be right : this is not the actual C30WR version? Afaik the C30W was introduced with HDCAM and replaced by the WR some time ago. Thanks & best regards Uli |

Uli:
It is the C30W. No "R" on the viewfinder label, anyway... We also put it on an F700, and I'm told it is interchangeable with any camera that can take the newer C35W viewfinder, as well. |

Re: HDVF-C30W Color viewfinder
My dealer always told me that this viewfinder will NOT fit the PDW-F350. I do hope your claim that it fits ALL XDCAM camera's is correct, however. Question is: how do we make sure it does? If so, I'm interested.

You may be right. I was thinking more of the 700 and 800, forgetting that Sony has 12,413 different models of cameras out there. I'll check around and see if I can find anything definitive about the 350. For what it's worth, I also had a dealer once tell me (after consulting with his Sony rep) that this viewfinder would NOT work on an F800, when it clearly does. |

Thanks, Bill. Keep me posted.
Not only Sony has 12,654 camera types, they all have almost the same name. Ouch! |

I'm afraid you are correct. The 330 and 350 series appear to use an entirely different class of viewfinder. I temporarily have a 330 in the office, and the viewfinder connection plug is significantly differently shaped than those in cameras like the HDCam and higher level XDCam series. Not that this surprises anyone familiar with Sony over the years... But for the rest of you lads laboring under the horrific working conditions of B&W viewfindering, the C30W is still looking for a good home. |

OK, thanks for the update, Bill. Too bad it doesn't fit. Good luck with the sale.

Re: HDVF-C30W Color viewfinder
Makes sense, because I was thinking if I get a 500 or 700 this year, why not just buy an 320 with that ships with a HD viewfinder and stick that on my camera. The price would be pretty much the same, and I would have a 320 as a back up camera
