XDCAM HD - Only proxies showing up in XDCAM Transfer
Hi All
I've been sent some XDCAM HD discs by a client and when they load into XDCAM Transfer (via a PDW-U1) I'm only seeing proxies and not the HD clips. I don't know anything about how the discs were shot or even if they are the original rushes - is it possible that the discs only contain proxies or am I doing something wrong? I can't sen any options or preferences in XDCAM Transfer that would load only proxies. Is there any other way to see what's on the discs? XDCAM transfer 2.12 OSX 10.5.8 Many thanks |

OK, I've discovered that unlike XDCAM EX you only see the proxies with XDCAM HD, interesting...

Andy,
You now have another option that will allow you to view the full-rez files. Sony has a new program called XDCAM Browser. Even though overall it is a piece of crap (for reasons I describe here: Vortex Media: VIDEO & PHOTO Tools and Training) it does have a few good features. One of those is the option to display MXF files in full resolution. You'll find that option in the preference menus.

Thanks Doug
I've avoided XDCAM browser as I've read so many bad things about it - but I'll check it out. I normally work with EX files which of course come in to XDCAM Transfer at full res. The thing that really confused me was that when I imported the clips into my NLE (Media 100) they looked terrible so I assumed I was somehow importing the proxies. It turns out that the clips are NTSC 60i and my NLE is default set up for PAL 25P! |
