Thanks for the heads up David!
Although I don't own an XDCam personally, we do use an F335 at the university where we work at. We've been running the latest Final Cut Studio with Snow Leopard so it'll be good to know that we can finally write back to the PDW-U1; not just data but our full, completed 26 minute episodes. Wonder how long it'll take the Sony folks to put on their US website...?

Thanks for letting us know, David. I suppose this update will allow me to write back to disks in my PDW-U1 under Snow Leopard?

Works for me, at least as far as I've tried it.
It took me a while to work out how to update the firmware, though. In case you are as puzzled as I was, you need to use the Utility software that gets installed in its own folder (not the Utilities folder, where you might expect) in the Applications folder. |

I've always thought that the live logging could be a very useful feature on certain kinds of shoot. So was interested to read the note that the new PDZ1 2.7 will support the feature for HD422 cameras.
However I thought I'd just share with everyone that according to Sony New Zealand the live logging and wi fi link option will only work with an upgrade key which will be chargeable. (I wonder how much!). Naturally the wi fi link will need some kind of new hardware which will also cost something. It will also require a new version 1.6 firmware upgrade which is due for release shortly. That will be free, but looking at the specs, there are other new additions which might be useful on the metadata front in particular. Getting the feeling NAB starts soon!! Peter |

I recently registered (again) and it worked. Just can't remember what country I chose. I don't think it is important which you choose, just fill in the fields and see what happens as it is mainly Europe and surrounding countries that they have listed. Cheers

German broadcasters are missing a way to synchronize an edited USB Proxy Stick (Metadata) with the disk - without hooking up the cam via FAM or using an U1.
As far as I heard the new cam firmware will support something like this. Hope this is correct. This would mean: Take the USB Stick out of the cam and start tagging/writing/EDLing/whatevering on a Laptop. Bring the USB stick (whenever) back to cam & disk and synchronize. I just finished a shoot with 11 Disks and the writer was soooo happy to view at home via proxy... safed A LOT of time here in the edit. Uli |
